❝Global plastic production has topped 320 million metric tons per year
An estimated 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic has been produced in total since the 1950s, and recent research shows that only 9% has been actually recycled, with the remaining 80% ending up in landfills, in the oceans, and in the environment.❞
Act Now Limited is an environmental organisation and social network, where members can participate in helping to solve the worlds plastic waste epidemic. Concerned members can photograph discarded plastic that retains the name of the brand, upload it to Act Now, which then gets shared to other social media sites, identifying the the worst offending brands and areas worldwide.
Currently there is no accurate data that identifies the most polluted areas, as well as discover the brands that create the problem. At the moment statistics of waste plastic are estimated by approximate plastic production, which means that there is no way to accurately estimate where the plastic comes from and where it ends up.
The data and statistics that is generated from this information, can identify the brands to create a map of the worst affected areas worldwide. The data can then be used by environmental organisations and other pressure groups, to force changes on companies and governments to alter existing legislation in the way plastic is disposed, manufactured and used.

The industry is inundated with industry-sponsored messages about “litter” and “cleanups” that leave individual consumers believing and feeling guilty that they are the cause of the plastic pollution crisis. Many of the solutions put forward by these brands and corporations focus on collection and recycling, despite years of persistently low and falling plastic recycling rates worldwide.
